“Germaphobes” is a laugh-out-loud prose program that follows Gerald P. Whiffle, a man so devoted to avoiding germs that he has redefined ordinary human interaction into a bureaucratic obstacle course of waivers, regulations, and emergency sanitation procedures. In “Not Without My Consent” and “Form 802-HB: The Side Hug,” every handshake becomes a security threat, every hug requires official documentation, and even a carefully regulated side hug feels like a daring leap into the unknown. Beneath the absurdity, however, lies a surprisingly relatable truth: the desire for human connection. Through absurd comedy, rapid-fire wit, and a character whose fears have taken on a life of their own, this program explores the tension between protecting ourselves and letting others into our lives.
